Black on black

I do night shifts, early mornings

14 hours in a row

I go to places

where no one wanna go

I see lovers, I see haters

I see them come and go

I see the homeless

freezing when the winter’s cold

I see many people

trying to control

their feelings, their time

that someone stole

I do understand them

I can hear their undertones

But all I can offer them is rust and bones

I do talk to all sorts of people

A widow

One rich man

One on heavy drugs

Someone looking for a hand

I see how they come in masses

From night clubs underground

I’m on overtime

When I am driving around

I see many people

trying to get back

their youth, their time

that someone seemed to hack

I do understand them

I wish I could change their track

But all I propose tonight is black on black

On the weekends I sleep under daylight

A wake up to the neighbor’s dog

Him barking // Suburban fog

I go out to clean my black car

I have a long night ahead

I wish I had someone waiting

for me in my bed

I see many people....
